Citrix System Engineer – Virtual Application & Desktop Delivery (all humans)

Within the department “Operating System Services”, we provide infrastructure automation and managed operating systems to our customers. Currently, we operate around 3,000 OS instances based on RedHat Linux, about 250 on IBM AIX, and around 1,500 based on Microsoft Windows Server OS.

We also operate a comprehensive Citrix environment, delivering virtualized applications and desktops for approximately 3,000 users. We are looking for someone to support our Citrix team in operational and organizational matters - with a proactive mindset and strong attention to detail.

What to do:

• Operate and maintain Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD), including PVS, Storefront, Delivery Controller, and Workspace App.

• Manage Citrix NetScaler (ADC) appliances with Gateway, Load Balancing, and authentication configurations.

• Create and validate master images using Citrix PVS, ensuring reliable deployment and performance.

• Implement and optimize user environment management with Ivanti/AppSense.

• Troubleshoot session issues, login delays, and application performance across the Citrix landscape.

• Apply security standards (SSL/TLS, hardening, access policies) and monitor system health using Citrix Director and ControlUp.

• Collaborate on packaging, image lifecycle, documentation, and contribute to strategic decisions in virtual workplace architecture.

You check these boxes:

• Proven experience with Citrix CVAD (ideally 1912 LTSR+), Storefront, Delivery Controller, and Citrix Policies.

• Hands-on expertise in Citrix PVS and NetScaler (ADC) configuration.

• Proficiency in Ivanti/AppSense for user environment and application control.

• Strong knowledge of Windows Server (2016–2022), AD, GPOs, DNS, and basic networking.

• PowerShell scripting skills for automation and optimization.

• A structured, solution-oriented mindset with strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.

• Passion for virtual desktop infrastructures and a drive to continuously improve systems and user experience.

• Good command of English, German is a plus.

• A competitive and performance-related salary dependent on your professional and personal qualifications is granted - we are obliged by law to quote the minimum wage of EUR 2800,- gross per month for this full time position.
